Think Pink
Princeton Women’s Basketball to Take Part in WBCA’s “Think Pink” National Event
Courtesy: Princeton Athletic Communications, Release: 01/28/2008
The Princeton University women’s basketball team will be one of more than 700 schools and organizations nationwide taking part in an initiative called “Think Pink,” sponsored by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association to promote awareness of and contribute to the fight against breast cancer.
All fans who wear pink will gain free admission to Princeton’s Feb. 23 game against Dartmouth at 6 p.m. The Tigers will be wearing pink jerseys as part of the event and fans will be able to bid in a silent auction. “Think Pink” t-shirts will also be available for $15. All proceeds from the silent action will go to local breast cancer organizations.
Jadwin Gym will open for fans at 5 p.m. and the Tigers hope to have a record crowd on hand to participate in such an important event.
“Think Pink” began as a WBCA initiative last season with more than 120 schools participating. At the national level, the WBCA is partnering with the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, named for the longtime North Carolina State women’s basketball coach who is fighting breast cancer.
Locally, Princeton has teamed up with Princeton HealthCare System’s Breast Health Center , the YWCA Princeton’s Breast Cancer Resource Center and Princeton Against Cancer Together, a student group, to provide information on the fight against breast cancer.
